This is the cocktail table I purchased for the Great Room. I decided to go with a formal table versus some of the more rustic tables I had been looking at....
It has an inset glass top that has been painted on the back side ("eglomise"). I like the design and the fact that the surface reflects light.
The table has a black rubbed back finish with gold accenting. (Double left click for a closer view).
Here are some close-ups of the finish. I like the curves and details of the base.
Here is the top... difficult to photograph because it 's 5 feet long.
Amy from Maison Decor recommended choosing a table with legs versus a table with a solid base because of the solidness of skirting on the sofas... good advice, thanks, Amy. The table does have legs and at 2 feet in height, was the tallest cocktail table I had seen... which is good visually because of the sofa skirting. Hard to show, but I think the height of the table can be seen in these pics....
From a different angle....
With both sofas....
I plan on doing ceiling to floor window treatments and although I like the area rug, I want to find a larger rectangular rug that can run under each couch (with the long sides running parallel to the fireplace). I'm going to go with the same general colors and tones but maybe a lighter background where the table is positioned so that it stands out more.

Love the table!! The detail is fantastic! I love that because of how pretty the top is you don't need to put much on the table.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful choice - I really liked that one a lot. Beautiful pattern, and I love the height of the table too.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you have in store for the window.
:)

Lori, it is perfect. Love the top of it. So unusual. It is perfect between your sofas. I agree on a larger rug.
ReplyDeleteLOVVVEEEE it!! I would love to have that in my house. The top of it is so pretty. The legs are very nice, too! Great find. XOXO ~Liz
ReplyDeleteLove this in your room Lori, but you had your eye on this beauty for awhile. I think it looks perfect, you must be very happy with it. What an interesting room you are creating. You are very thoughtful about your choices and will end up with one inspirational space! Hey, I may be coming to KC in April, so I will have to check it out in person!!
ReplyDeleteMe again, I love the color of the rug with that touch of blue that the pillows have. I looked at some of the pics in closeup...you have some really cool site lines into other room from there. I loved seeing the animal hide chairs around the dining table...I want to see more! I want to see what is on your mantle, I want to peek around the castle, so come on girl, show us some more of what you have going on in these great rooms!
ReplyDeleteThe table fits well with the sofas and the area. It is very detailed. I also love the rug. You did well.
ReplyDeleteWow...what a fantastic table...It is definitely a piece of artwork for the floor!!! It also looks so great in your fabulous home!!!

ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous! What an unusual table.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Lori! It looks like it was made for your house! I love the black rubbed finish. Not too black, but just perfect. The top is amazing. You really put your heart and soul into your choices and that is why your house is going to be drop dead gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGood Job!
Love Nan
I'm so glad you went with that table - I love it in this space. The pictures I saw of it a while ago truly didn't do it justice. It is absolutely stunning. It's also bigger than I originally thought, and the size balances out the space so well. Another home run for you, talented one!
ReplyDeleteLori, I've been thinking about you so much lately! You're gonna love the book - I'm almost done but am pacing myself because I don't want it to end.
ReplyDeleteLove your table choice. I also really liked the first one you showed in the last post. You'll probably get a good giggle out of my new coffee table I just bought this week - a whopping $90 at Homegoods! I'll try to get a picture up soon so you can see.
Have a blessed weekend!

Lori,
ReplyDeleteYour table is gorgeous, love the eglomise and the gold accents! The copper top dining tables from your previous post are wonderful!
I seen some awesome pieces at market this past weekend.

That is a beautiful table and it works well with everything else in the room. Love your room by the way.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! I love how it looks formal and elegant but not at all stuffy because of the wood tones. Perfect choice! Thanks so much for linking this up to Inspiration Friday this week!

Your table is stunning. Love your room, and I think you picked the perfect table. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWonderful selection... I absolutely love this table..and what I like most is that you did not pick something trendy, but rather something that suited your space, needs and taste. My first visit here but now I am off to look around as you have a very interesting home and great taste. Since you are going to switch out the rug, maybe consider a solid color with interesting texture so that the design on the table will stand out. Just one option to consider.
ReplyDeleteHi there- Love the table you chose and your room looks absolutely lovely and inviting! It's beautiful! Thanks for sharing this at Feathered Nest Friday! :)
