Wine Door Make Over

The creamy off-white door to my husband's wine room wwas just not working.  (Sorry I did not get agood BEFORE picture other than in a background shot... see left side of picture below).

To fix things, I decided to give the door the same paint treatment I did to the handrail of my staircase.  (My first post on this blog describes what I did)  To begin, I stippled on texture (Weathered Bronze Lusterstone) and then applied a metallic glaze (mixture of two Modern Masters metallic paint colors with a galzing medium.  Finally, I topcoated with a satin polyurethane.  It was VERY important to do the painting before the grill was applied due to the grill's projection.

  1. Oh -- that is excellent. I would love to see some picture of the various steps -- I don't ask too much, do I? Well I'm going to follow you just in case you do another metallic finish on something else! I invite you to do the same, if you like!
